St. Louis sits squarely on the I-55 reefer corridor we run between Memphis and Chicago. Big River Transfer is hiring CDL-A Reefer and Flatbed drivers based in the St. Louis area — same lanes you know, backed by a Memphis-based carrier with real freight and late-model equipment.
Open Positions
We are actively hiring CDL-A drivers in the St. Louis area for two divisions. Reefer is our primary need here, but flatbed positions are open as well.
CDL-A Reefer Driver
Run temperature-controlled freight on a corridor you know — I-55 between Memphis and Chicago, with St. Louis in the middle. Food products, produce, pharmaceuticals, and more.
- Pay: $0.65–$0.70 CPM plus detention
- Type: Company Driver
- Runs: Regional and OTR, nationwide
CDL-A Flatbed Driver
Haul steel, machinery, and building materials. St. Louis's industrial and manufacturing base generates steady flatbed freight year-round. All gear provided, tarp pay on every qualifying load.
- Pay: $0.65–$0.70 CPM plus $60 per load tarp pay
- Type: Company Driver
- Runs: Regional and OTR, nationwide

Competitive Pay, Both Divisions
Starting at $0.65 to $0.70 CPM. Flatbed drivers earn $60 per load tarp pay. Reefer drivers get detention pay and consistent freight. Top drivers across both divisions earn $2,200 or more per week.
Pay and Bonuses
The same pay structure applies whether you are based in St. Louis or Memphis. No geographic penalty for being further out.
Base and Additional Pay
- All Miles Paid: Loaded and deadhead miles both paid
- Base CPM: $0.65–$0.70 per mile
- Flatbed Tarp Pay: $60 per load, tarp and untarp both paid
- Detention: $25 per hour after 3 hours
- Driver Assist: $25 per hour
- Local Work: $25 per hour (65 miles or less)
Bonus Program
- Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 for qualifying new hires
- Safety Bonus: Up to $250 per quarter
- 100K Miles: $1,000 milestone bonus
- 500K Miles: $5,000 milestone bonus
- Customer Referral: $1,000
- Driver Referral: $1,000 total

St. Louis is roughly 285 miles from our Memphis base via I-55 — the same highway that carries our reefer loads. Orientation, equipment pickup, and maintenance coordination are straightforward. You stay home-based in the St. Louis area while connecting with a Memphis carrier that runs your roads every day. We also hire qualified CDL-A drivers nationwide.
